My dear Simmers,
Yep, they’re back. The Rivers are back after, oh, roughly eleven months? I’d like to begin with a massive apology for the huge hiatus and an explanation. I know I hadn’t been updating ridiculously regularly, but basically I got stuck between two potential university-based storylines for Lily and was dithering about like a fool trying to decide.
Then the computer meltdowns started.
My family has been through four desktop computers in the last eleven months. Every time we got a new one it would arrive faulty, and given how glitch-tastic good old Sims 3 was (still bloody loved it though <3) it was frankly impossible to play. We finally got a proper new one about two weeks before Sims 4 came out, and when I realised the one save file of the Sims 3 Rivers I had was a bit borked, I took the decision to redo them in Sims 4 and start afresh.
I really hope you can see a vague resemblance to how they all were in the Sims 3! It was surprisingly hard to get them to look anywhere near as similar as I was hoping; a combination of still getting used to the Sims 4 CAS, my Sims 3 CC skin and eyes and just, well, the obvious fact that it’s a completely different game meant I was struggling with them for ages! Just in case anyone is wondering, Freya and Lily live together, then Dylan and Louise live in another household and Robyn’s family in a third, just so they’re there if I need them.
I can’t promise uber regular updates like I used to do, real life isn’t always Sim-compatible, but writing this post (I hope my rustyness doesn’t show too much…) has been a lot of fun and I’m eager to get back in the swing of things and get updating more regularly than once a year now that I’m actually able to play the game! I feel so bad for neglecting this blog so, but I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who’s been reading about The Rivers while I’ve been away. This blog is still getting daily hits which I’m unbelievably grateful for given how rubbish I’ve been.
I hope you’re all enjoying Sims 4, should you have it! If you’re interested, my opinion of it is pretty high. I am missing Create A Style a lot more than I thought I would, but the gameplay is brilliant, I’m loving the emotions system, and the loading screens simply don’t bother me. In Sims 3 it would take around half a minute for a lot to become completely playable anyway and even then it would be deserted; I’m loving how populated everywhere seems to be and it only takes around 15 seconds maximum to load. Thumbs up from me!
Once again, thank you all so much for your patience. If I ever seem to vanish again then feel free to tweet me (@Sianystar88 fyi) to find out where I am and push me back into the SimWorld. I’ve missed this place!!
